System certificate

Our MKH Greenergy Cert GmbH team have adequate knowledge and experience with the electrical properties of your power generation plants in accordance with the current statutory grid connection requirements. We will ensure that your power generation plant takes the leading role in the energy transition.
We issue the system certificate (planning certificate) in accordance with the technical guidelines of FGW (TR8) based on the positive results of our assessment for the grid connection, then the power generation plant can be used for the operation. This allows you to receive the remuneration for your project.
The system certificate (planning certificate) is initially valid until 6 months after the commissioning of last power generating unit of the respective power generation plant. The validity of the system certificate ends on the date of issue of the declaration of conformity for the power generation plant.

According to SDLWindV, BDEW guideline including all four supplements and TransmissionCode 2007, onshore wind turbines on medium, high and very high voltage grid must be certified in Germany.  The certification process of the onshore wind turbines is two-tiered. In the first phase, the system certificate (planning certificate) is issued.

Since 1st April 2011, the power generation plants which are unable to meet the grid connection guidelines and the statutory requirements, cannot go online. We recommend grid assessment and studies in advance for the larger wind farms or mixed farms.

According to BDEW guideline including all four supplements and TransmissionCode 2007, combustion engines/ combined heat and power unit and on medium, high and very high voltage grid must be certified in Germany.  The certification process of the combustion engines/ combined heat and power unit is two-tiered. In the first phase, the system certificate (planning certificate) is issued.

Since 1st January 2014, combustion engines (total apparent power of over 1 MVA at the grid connection point or a medium voltage cable length above 2 km) which are unable to meet the grid connection guidelines and the statutory requirements, cannot go online.

For combustion engine/ combined heat and power unit less than 10 MVA:

  • The respective plant operator must submit the unit certificate until 30 June 2015 and the system certificate until September 30, 2015 to the respective grid operator.

For combustion engine/ combined heat and power unit above 10 MVA:

  • The plant operator must provide the evidence of the electrical properties of the power generation plant at the grid connection point to the grid operator. The confirmation of the dynamic grid support and also availability of the power generation plant in the grid during the grid fault are not required.
  • The evidence of the dynamic grid support and availability of the power generation plant in the grid during the grid fault must be provided as part of the further necessary confirmation of the unit and system certificate to the responsible grid operator by 31st December 2016.
